Obama and Going Green

The future is looking green!

We all knew it had to happen. Sooner or later America was going to wake up, say enough is enough, cast off the yolk held in place by the oil men of government, and vote for a candidate that places ‘going green' as a top priority in their administration. That's what we get with Barack Obama

He was one of, if not the only candidate in this entire election that realized that going green is akin to Roosevelt's ‘New Deal', which was the policy that took us out of the depression by making jobs for the people in the 30's, that modernized our entire infrastructure, that truly began Americas journey into the 21st century.

John Kennedy had a similar dream, and he called it ‘The New Frontier'. His plan included legislating equal rights bills, affordable housing, urban renewal, trade expansion, and the dream of going to the moon within 10 years.

One almost wants to call what Obama is going to do as ‘A New Beginning.' First and foremost, he wants to create a green energy economy, and by opening up green technology and expanding it into the job market, that will, by his estimate alone, create 5 million jobs! That means America needs to once again take the lead in technological advances, get these ideas off the drawing boards, and get to work making them happen.

Obama advocates clean coal burning for electricity, he wants to get at least 1 million plug-in hybrids on the road by 2015 that get a minimum of 150 miles per gallon, and invest $150 billion dollars to go green over the next 10 years. He even wants to redo the electrical grid, and one of the main reasons for this is the anticipation of increased use of battery power for everyday transportation.

All of these innovations are unheard of throughout the rest of the world. Implementing all of these ideas and making jobs in the green sector like this will put America at the forefront of environmental technology, and the US will be the cleanest and greenest place on all this earth in which to live.

None of this is proven, of course, and no one can really say what the future might bring. But at that moment on Novemeber 5th, 2008, when Barack Obama became the President Elect of the United States of America, all of us My Green Clickers were able to, for maybe the first time ever, see a big green light in the sky.

It's a new beginning folks, and the best is yet to come! I can hardly wait!!

Just remember, the previous administration stopped most of the environmental programs which allowed other countries to take the lead. Obama is attempting to 'jump start' the American green movement again, which should never have been curtailed in the first place. As a selling point, the largest growth within industry has been the green segment, which is in part because of the stimulus bill. There was no recession at all with green products. Starting a green business, huh? I'm in the green business and I'm a writer and I give local seminars on greening peoples lives. Resale shops are a good green business, and giving green seminars much like I do, is a great way to spread the word. Thanks everyone for the comments!!

Obama is such a wonderful man....it's too bad that we live in a society that is so polorized. China is surpassing us in many ways..I would think that both "sides" would unite in keeping the USA #1, but no..it's more important to those who hate Obama to say "no" to everything he tries to do!!

"That means America needs to once again take the lead in technological advances" haha the joke of the week, the usa is 30 years back in that field in comparison to europe and to be at the "forefront of environmantal technology" you will have to do a lot of work, while others won't stand still. the USA has slowed down all ecological efforts worldwide for better selling their Burgers and Hummers and making trouble (wars) to get your cheap oil. "All of these innovations are unheard of throughout the rest of the world" again bs !! it's rather the oposite !!! USA don't even get the public healthcare set up, which all developped countries offer to their people. The American people should read a bit more what's going on in the rest of the world, you can learn a lot of things.

I stand behind President Obama but more than that I stand for the world. We do not have the time or the luxury of waiting. We MUST act now if we are going to save this beautiful planet. The time for doing nothing is over. 76 days until Copenhagen!

I can't cast off the yolk without an egg! However, I CAN cast off the yoke, and I am!

My comment is yes Mr. President i think that going green is one of the best idea's that america ever had. and yes i do think going green would clean air, lower electric, clean water, help save money for each house hold in the USA and help create new jobs. Help make the united states of america one of the best places that anyone would want to live, i also think it would help with alot of illness thats going on in the US such as cancer, high blood pressure and different kinds of diseases , different kinds of allergies and so much more. I think that more people in america would be more healthy if we go green. and that is my comment to the Predisdent of The United states of America and says that with pride because i am glad to be an American. I think taht we have one of the most intelligent Presidents of the united states. Of course we have had a few more but i think that this one of the best and think that he knows what he is doing, and where he is going with america.

My question has been answered. Clean Edison is offering great training and information. Thank you.

Thank you for your efforts. I am interesting in getting more involved. If the opportunity to start a business and seriously make a difference, what would you suggest? I work as a MN licensed realtor and with special education at the public high school so I have exposure, resources and access to spreading the worldwide effort locally

Unfortunately, President Obama (whom I supported and voted for) Has not made good on his promises. Also, the idea of clean coal is so ridiculous that it's laughable. I don't believe there can or will ever be any such thing as "clean coal". Did you read Michael Moore's letter/publication about GM. He made a lot more sense than the plans Obama has for the people who worked so hard in those factories for decades. Please help push President Obama to do MORE than he's currently doing. He's making too many compromises. We can't compromise when it comes to the environment. Thank you for being here for me and others to read.

'Only they are lost who gives themselves up for lost' and apparently, sir, you are lost. Misters Chu, Holdren, and Ms Lubchenco, 3 of the greatest environmental minds on the planet, and a part of President Obamas cabinet don't believe the parade has passed, and I sure as heck trust more in their findings and judgment than in any dooms-day comment you choose to leave. I'm wondering if maybe you just couldn't find the parade to begin with, but realistically, there is no room on the bandwagon for you anyway. I do appreciate the comment though.

Unfortunately, it's too late to jump on the bandwaagon after the parade has passed. Once the planetary albedo has begun to change through the process of changing the polar caps from ice to water it becomes an irreversable enjine of self sustaining climatic change, so the kindest thing you can do is not reproduce to subject potential future generations to an inhospitable planet intent on destroying the bipedal parasites that have infested her skin.

This is wonderful news, and I can't wait either~
